Wooden telephone and power poles sized from 6 to 9 meter long (poles diameters given in the table below) are our basic products. Poles are made from pine or spruce wood. Trees for the poles production are felled  in winter season the area of Lower Silesia. Timber is of  standard value.

Poles can be set directly in ground.

Against the negative environmental influence poles are protected with impregnating agents by pressure method.

Sweep and crook permitted to the extent that a straight line from the centre of the top to the centre of the pole 1,5 m from butt remains within the pole.

Technology of impregnation:

Wooden poles impregnation consists in a full penetration with preservative of the sapwood up to heartwood which is naturally impregnated.

IV class wood impregnation is applied  for telecommunication poles being in a permanent contact with the ground and/or water to protect them against insects, fungi, leaching  and decay  for a few decades of years.

Impregnation process is carried out in autoclave using  Behtell or Rüping  pressure – vacuum method.

Wooden poles moisture prior to treatment < 25 %.

Underpressure before impregnation (-) 0,02 MPa/ 0,5 hour

Pressure during impregnation 0,9 – 1,0 MPa/ 6 – 8 hour.

After impregnation drying vacuum (-) 0,02 MPa/15 minutes.

 

Applied preservatines:


Wolmanit CX-8 – water-solvable wood protection agent based on cooper and boron compounds, delivered by Dr. Wolman GmbH company (Germany)

Solution concentration  3,5 – 4,0 %.

Wood Saturation 4 kg/m3.

 

Tanalith E – water-solvable agent  based on cooper compounds and derivatives of aliphatic amines (triazoles) Arch Timber Protection Company (England)

Solution concentration  3,5 – 4,0 %.

Wood Saturation (retention) 4 kg/m3.

 

Properly dressed, dried and impregnated wood gives a guarantee of having the highest quality poles of a required strength and of a service life of 40 years and more.

 

The supporting structures are the base for construction of overhead lines. In telecommunication and power construction wooden poles are commonly used, because practice has shown that they are the ideal solution (material) not only because of the cost, but also because of the easy installation and development, strength, aesthetics, quality and ecology.

 

Large scale of damages of  overhead line based on reinforced concrete structures caused by weather conditions such as storms and frost putting out of order the whole sections of the lines create has created a significant increase of  interest in wooden poles.

 

Parameters analysis of materials used for supporting structures in telephone and power lines and properties analysis of structural elements made of these materials i.e.  wooden or concrete poles have clearly proved that wooden poles are more useful than the reinforced concrete columns for this type of structures.

It is simply a result of the specific characteristics  of wood as a building material.

Essential  advantages of that building material of organic origin, such as:

   - low volume weight

   - high strength and elasticity

   - low thermal expansion factor

   - resistance to chemical agents, means

   - easy  dressing independent on temperature or season of a year

   - biodegradability

allow the execution of final products in the form of wooden poles, which in the process of construction and working of the telephone and energy lines provide to  the investor  direct and concrete advantages in comparison with line construction technology based on  reinforced concrete poles.
